The digGLAM Project is aimed to help small galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAMs) in Finland with a small staff and limited funds to digitize their collections with participation from their user communities. The project collaborated with Gallen-Kallela Museum in Espoo, Finland. Open Community Days were designed and held at the Museum to focus on gathering archival material from its user-communities to be added to the Museum's Collections. Using Open Source software and an energy-efficient robotic scanner to automate the digitization processes, the project approached the challenges of the internal workings and archival efforts of the Museum. Finally, the project allowed the local community of the Museum to help digitize and tag the thematic collection. The digitized material from these Theme Days were then fed into a designed museum archive "Haloo Akseli" that is now available under a Creative Commons License in the Public Domain.
