Visual Communication Design

(Former Graphic Design)

The School of Art, Design and Architecture trains multidisciplinary visual communication design professionals. The teaching areas of the educational programme founded in 1926 cover all forms of graphic communications media and distribution channels.

Beside the more than 200 students working towards their degrees in the Degree Programme in Visual Communication Design, there is also a sizeable group of students enrolled in secondary subject and international exchange programmes.

The Degrees

Students enrolled in the visual communication design degree programmes are entitled to earn a lower Bachelor of Arts degree (180 ECTS) and/or a higher Master of Arts degree (120 ECTS). The estimated completion times are three years (BA) and two years (MA). A detailed description of the studies can be found in the Study Guide of the Department of Media.

The Master of Arts degree can also be completed in English language.

The Degree Programme in Visual Communication Design (MA) offers the possibility to deepen and extend the perspective in the studies, or to specialize in a particular subfield of visual communication design. The degree programme aims to develop research skills and conceptual thinking as well as to deepen artistic vision, mastery of design processes, artistic expression and professional specialization.

Please note: two new majors opening 2015.

More information about the MA degree programme can be found here.
