Lunch Talk EXTRA "Traversing Disciplinary Practices and Education in the Arts and Sciences"

Timothy Smith is a visiting PhD student, artist, and educator from Ohio State University in the United States. A key component of his dissertation research focuses on the question of how art creates thought and how that thought differs or converges with thought in disciplines outside of the arts. Working through the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and recent New Materialist theory, this lunch talk will consider examples of contemporary artists' practices engaging with various fields of the social sciences and natural and technological sciences.
