Hack4FI – Hack your heritage
Hack your heritage’ puts open Finnish cultural resources to use!
Hack4FI culture hackathon gathers together a diverse group of coders, designers, cultural heritage institutions, artists, graphic designers and others interested in open culture to create new concepts out of old materials.
Participants will create new cultural works, services, and service concepts based on both original ideas for innovation as well as solutions to concrete problems expressed by the cultural heritage institutions.
The hackathon will take place over the weekend of February 6-8th in the Aalto Media Factory. Throughout the weekend participants will plan, prepare, and begin working on their projects. After the weekend participants have six weeks to finalise their works. The hackathon ends on March 26th with a gala, where the final works will be presented and awarded.
The hackathon is organised by the local Finnish OpenGLAM-working group AvoinGLAM. It is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
